Chillin By the River

public art, sculpture

This is a public art piece done by john Todd Vassallo, with this artist, and donated to the town of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and sits on their waterfront near an entertainment area. Visitors are encouraged to sit in the car and enjoy the river and the boats as they pass. The cement figure looking at his iPhone appears at first to be a youth until one sees the hooded face. It is that of an adult and speaks to the assumption of first impressions and that older does not represent finished, in this case with technology. I was an intregal part of construction of this work and it allowed me to learn much about the process and introduced new material to me. Thank you john Todd Vassallo.
