"Welcome to my world of multifaceted artistry!"
As a Nova Scotia-based artist, my creative journey spans over 65 years, marked by diverse experiences and explorations. Growing up as an Air Force child, I often felt unrooted until I found my true home in the Maritimes. This upbringing has given me a broad, open outlook on life and many cultural inspirations. I now live here with my husband, George, and we have nurtured a global perspective in our two children, who reside in other countries and travel the world for their work.
I am a multi-discipline atelier artist primarily focused on painting, but over time, I have explored various mediums to express my vision. My approach led me into sculpting, and I deeply enjoy the intimacy of these creative exchanges. I believe working with live models is a fundamental skill that every artist should develop, much like it's taught as a basic in art schools. Similarly, I enjoy taking my art outdoors with plein air painting for the same reasons.
While I don't have a single "favorite" medium, I find joy in any material that allows me to explore and express my concepts. Yet, at my core, I remain a painter, and that passion continues to dominate all my other artistic pursuits. My exploration has led me to drawing, firing bronze, welding steel, working with clay, and even experimenting in the wet lab like my photographer father. Now, I am venturing into the digital world with my poetry, aspiring to create a definitive graphic novel that captures my life’s work.
Beyond my personal work, I've also played a significant role in advancing the arts in my community through teaching, organizing, and supporting local art events
